Kwakiutl Speaker Mask

This Speaker Mask was carved by a British Columbia native arttist Matt James. Matt is amember of the Cape Cod Mudge Kwaktiutl/Kawagiulth First Nation of Vancouver Island. The Speaker masks were used during First Nations gatherings.

This large handcrafted mask measures (without bark): 35 cm H x 28 cm W x 18 cm D.

Created from Cedar with Cedar bark and hand painted Turkey feathers like Eagle. form.

Signed on the back, carved in 2000.
